CPISD Police Officer Selena Cooley was promoted to Sergeant at the Center Point ISD School Board meeting on April 26, 2023. Sgt. Cooley, a Certified Texas Peace Officer, began her career at CPISD PD in August of 2018, and is currently stationed at the Elementary Campus. She has been a police officer for more than 16 years and recently obtained her Master Peace Officer Certification. She is a Certified C.R.A.S.E. (Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events) instructor and a Certified “Stop the Bleed” instructor. She trains all new staff and substitute employees on C.R.A.S.E., Stop the Bleed, and our reunification procedures before they are allowed to go into the classrooms. Sgt. Cooley plans, schedules, and records the records for all safety drills that are required for CPISD by the State of Texas. She continuously monitors use of the district computers for network user compliance and personally examines each of the 400 - 600 keyword alerts the district receives daily, and initiates the appropriate action as needed.
Along with her other vital campus Police duties Sgt. Cooley assists the elementary staff in the mornings and afternoons with the car-line, makes sure everyone is safe as they arrive and leave for the day, and helps supervise students while they are in the cafeteria during lunch. She even finds the time to talk with and mentor individual students.
The number one priority at Center Point ISD is keeping our students and staff safe and Sgt. Cooley, through her dedication to the students and staff, helps make this district a much safer place.
