The Gates Scholarship

Eligibility requirements:

  • A high school senior

  • From at least one of the following ethnicities: African American, American Indian/Alaska Native*, Asian/Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American

  • Pell-eligible

  • A US citizen, national, or permanent resident

  • In a good academic standing with a minimum cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)

Additionally, a student must plan to enroll full-time, in a four-year degree program, at a US accredited, not-for-profit, private or public college or university.

 

*For American Indian/Alaska Native, proof of tribal enrollment will be required.

 

An ideal candidate will also have:

  • An outstanding academic record in high school (in the top 10% of his/her graduating class)

  • Demonstrated leadership ability (e.g., as shown through participation in community service, extracurricular, or other activities)

  • Exceptional personal success skills (e.g., emotional maturity, motivation, perseverance, etc.)

Application deadline: Phase I of the application opened July 15, with a submission deadline of Sunday, September 15, 2024, 2:00 PM PT.

 

 

 

 

DAR Scholarship

(National Society Daughters of the American Revolution)

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) is pleased to offer 26 different national scholarships for graduating high school seniors, and college, graduate and medical students through their online application portal for the upcoming academic year.

SCHOLARSHIP GUIDELINES AND RULES

*Scholarship applications in Counseling Ofiice. 

These scholarships are awarded based on financial need, character, academics,citizenship and work history. Scholarships are provided for graduating high school seniors who have been accepted in a Texas State College, University or Vocational

Institution.

The following are qualifying criteria:

1. The student does not have the means to attend college without financial assistance.

2. The student must have been accepted in a Texas State College, University or Vocational Institution.

3. Students must complete the Scholarship Application.

4. Based on qualifications, students will be selected for interviews.

5. A member or members of the OES Scholarship Committee will interview candidates and make final selections.

6. Scholarship recipients will be announced at graduation ceremonies if possible.

7. Students must start school no later than the fall semester after being awarded the scholarship.

Administration of funds:

1. The student, before receiving funding, must submit proof of enrollment, Student ID and mailing

address of Institution to the OES Office at P O Box 290042, Kerrville, TX 78029.

2. The OES will fund the scholarship monies to the Institution being attended and not to the

scholarship recipient.

 

 

BEC Scholarship Program

Bandera Electric is committed to the leaders of tomorrow, and we encourage members and their children to work hard and follow their dreams. We offer scholarships to local high school and home-schooled graduating seniors and college students. BEC scholarships may be applied toward tuition, fees, and expenses at any accredited 4-year university or college, junior college, or TEA-approved technical or trade school that offers an associate degree.

The scholarship program was established in 1998 by Bandera Electric Cooperative to encourage and assist in the educational pursuits of its members and their immediate families. Since then, we have awarded $250,000 in scholarships!

Eligibility

  • Parent(s)or legal guardians must be members of Bandera Electric Cooperative or receive BEC service at their residence and provide written verification from the member-owner of the account.

  • Graduating high school seniors must have maintained at least an 80% on a 100% scale.

  • Students currently enrolled in post-secondary educational course work must have maintained a minimum cumulative 2.50 GPA on a 4.00 scale at an accredited 4-year university/college, junior college, or TEA-approved trade school.

  • Applicants must meet general admittance requirements of the accredited 4-year university/college, junior college, or TEA-approved trade school to which they apply to receive funds.

  • Applicants may only win once.

MCLAUGHLIN DOTY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

This annual scholarship was established in 2011 by the McLaughlin Doty Foundation to assist students in pursuing their undergraduate educational goals.  

Eligibility

An applicant must be a senior graduating in the spring of 2025 from one of the following schools:  Tivy High School, Ingram Tom Moore High School, Center Point High School, Harper High School, Our Lady of the Hills High School, or Hill Country High School.  Applications from students living in Kerr County and graduating from an accredited home school program will also be considered.

Estimated Award Amount

$7,500 per year for up to 4 years (maximum $30,000)

The amount awarded will vary depending on the applicant’s needs and the type of degree or program the applicant is pursuing.  Students graduating with an associate’s degree will generally receive a maximum of $15,000 payable over 2 years.

HCTC

Hill Country Telephone Cooperative, Inc. (HCTC) wants you to pursue your dream of obtaining a higher level of education.  Whether you are seeking an associates, bachelors or technical certification, you may qualify for an HCTC Scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicant must:

  • be of the 2025 high school graduating class.

  • have at least one parent/legal guardian who is a member of HCTC.

  • plan to attend an accredited institution (college, vocational or technical school) on a full-time basis (at least 12 hours).

While above average grades are an asset, they are not required to compete for this scholarship as other factors will also be considered (i.e., leadership qualities, participation in extracurricular and community activities, and teacher recommendations).

Legal Guardian is defined as court-ordered. Member is defined as having service in the parent or legal guardian’s name with Hill Country Telephone Cooperative.
