Our Mission
The Special Education Department seeks to enhance and strengthen the effectiveness of behavioural and disability support services through inter-departmental collaboration; ultimately creating instructional improvement strategies for the District in all areas to support academic achievement for all students. Additionally, our goals are to provide and implement effective student support services, strategically deliver specially designed instruction, and equip leaders, teachers and staff to consistently apply effective instructional practices that will maximize student achievement.

The Special Education Department promotes inclusion and supports students with disabilities in gaining college and career readiness after graduation, and independent living skills through a balanced, nurturing learning environment, high-quality instruction, and support services that enable all students to reach their full potential.

The Special Education Information Center (SPEDTex) provides resources and interactive features for increasing family awareness of disabilities and special education processes, with the goal of improving partnerships between schools and families.
