All students are required to indicate in writing, upon entering ninth grade, which endorsement(s) they plan to pursue.   A student may switch endorsements at any time by submitting a request in writing; however, schedule changes are allowed only during the first three days of each semester and  enrollment in courses needed for a new endorsement may be delayed until the beginning of the next semester.  A student may earn more than one endorsement.  The endorsement(s) will be noted on the student’s transcript.  Endorsements currently available at Center Point High School, and the requirements for each endorsement, are listed below.

Initially, the Health Science program was facilitated through an online platform that required independent study on the student's part. I had the privilege to launch the classroom Health Science program in 2022 for Center Point ISD. Currently, Principles of Health Science, Medical Terminology, and Human Anatomy & Physiology are available under my instruction in the classroom. Pathophysiology is still offered through the online platform. This pathway gives students the opportunity to learn about the various career opportunities in the health science field, key terminology that can be used to dissect complex medical terms, and an in-depth understanding of the human body and related diseases.

I completed two years of a registered nurse program before changing career paths to education. I then completed my B.S. in Biology Education at Louisiana Tech University in 2010. Later, I completed my M.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction at University of Texas, Arlington. I have also completed graduate level courses in Human Anatomy & Physiology. In addition to teaching, I am also the Junior Class Sponsor. I am passionate about sharing my knowledge of the health science field with students and am grateful to see these students pursue their goals towards a career in the health science pathway.

In my 15 year educator career, I have had opportunity to participate in organizations and have been honored with professional awards:

  • Biology Certified (2010-Present)
  • National Science Teachers Association (2010-Present)
  • Louisiana Science Teachers Association (2010-2015)
  • Teacher of the Year (2012-2013)
  • Composite Science Certified (2013-Present)
  • Northern Louisiana Regional Collaborative (2013-2015)
  • Presenter at Louisiana Science Teachers Association Conference (2014)
  • Texas Association of Biology Teachers (2015-Present)
  • Teacher of the Year (2020-2021)
